Lead Actor Predictions: March 2024

He may have missed out on a win for his acclaimed performance in “Rustin” this year, but Colman Domingo appears to be the early frontrunner for next years Oscar race for his acclaimed lead role in real life prison drama “Sing Sing”. The film premiered at Toronto in September as part of the Special Presentations programme and has established itself as the one to beat in a handful of categories.

Looking to challenge Domingo will be Daniel Craig, who is still seeking his first Academy Award nomination. The James Bond actor stars in Luca Guadagnino‘s historical romantic drama “Queer” as an American expat who becomes infatuated with a younger man.

Joaquin Phoenix will be looking for a repeat of the 92nd Academy Awards, as he reprises his Oscar-winning role as the Joker in Todd Phillips‘ highly anticipated sequel “Joker: Folie a Deux”. Other notable early contenders include: Adam Driver, Ralph Fiennes, John David Washington and Sebastian Stan for his portrayal of Donald trump.
