If my page title is any indicator, I of course am extremely passionate about film. People’s admiration for film varies with many seeing it as nothing more than a couple hours of stress free escapism. This too was my view on cinema up until around the age of 13 when I started to appreciate the art and craft of the industry.
I remember watching both the 2007 and 2008 Academy Awards with immense levels of anticipation as to which of my favourite films of the past year would walk away with Oscars, if any. Having seen both Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and Joel & Ethan Coen’s No Country for Old Men take the top prize in those years, my favourite films at that time, I was hooked.
Over the subsequent 16 years or so I have garnered an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of cinema and finally in 2023 decided it would be a good idea to write all my thoughts in my blog at DanLovesFilm, where I write in depth movie reviews, awards predictions and my own personal top 10s and other rankings.

Nice write up.

Interesting. You are my daughter’s age. It sounds like you have a longer attention span than most people of your generation. I find that neither of my kids watch full-length films very often. A 20-something film buff in the age of TikTok is rare, no?
