What to Watch in December

The busy months for new releases keep on coming, and as the year looks to come to a close, the final run of award contenders also make their way to both the big screen and streaming in the UK. With the undeniable box-office juggernaut “Avatar: Fire and Ash” likely to break the $2 billion mark like its tow predecessors, and with “Wicked: For Good” and Disney’s “Zootropolis 2” also looking to make big money at the box office, it is looking like a strong end to the year for cinemas across the country.

Other Oscar players that are coming to cinemas in December include the Palm d’Or winning “It Was Just an Accident”, Joachim Trier‘s domestic drama “Sentimental Value”, and Josh Safdie‘s, Timothee Chalamet-led comedy-drama “Marty Supreme”. Other contenders coming to streaming this coming month include Noah Baumbach‘s “Jay Jelly” and the third instalment in Rian Johnson‘s “Knives Out” murder-mystery series.

As for fun, popcorn chewing cinema trips, there are sequels, remakes, and retellings aplenty, with horrors “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” and “Silent Night, Deadly Night”, a new animated “SpongeBob SquarePants” movie, and a remake/parody of 90s creature feature Anaconda”, starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd. Audiences are also finally getting an uncut cinematic release of “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair”, a hour five-hour epic that combines both iconic films as originally intended by Quentin Tarantino back in 2003.
