The 96th Academy Awards have finally taken place and it was “Oppenheimer” that was the big winner. However, here at DanLovesFilm, I have my own awards to celebrate the films that I feel are more deserving in the above and below the line categories.
Much like the Oscars, “Oppenheimer” had the most nominations going into the 1st Annual DanLovesFilm Awards but failed to walk away with the most ‘Danny’s’ on the night, or a Best Picture win, but still racked up 3 wins for Director, Lead Actor and Editing.
Best Picture was instead handed to Celine Song‘s directorial debut feature “Past Lives”, which turned out to be the only award for the film. The film that took home the most awards was “Poor Things” with 4 wins, closely followed by “Anatomy of a Fall”, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and of course “Oppenheimer”, all with 3 awards each.

This is a great list of winners! Finally, some recognition for “Past Lives” at long last. I did love “Oppenheimer”, however, I feel it didn’t deserve to win 7 Oscars. I like how you distributed the winners evenly giving each movie the chance to be recognized. Here’s why I agree with your pick for best picture:

Absolutely agree. I don’t understand the criticisms that film is getting at all. It’s beyond my comprehension. You would have to be a soulless robot not to be touched by that ending. Here’s why I loved it:
