Supporting Actress Predictions: March 2024

These supporting actor categories are notoriously difficult to predict as you are never sure which of the many supporting performances in a film are going to gain the most traction over the course of the year. With very little of these films having been releases so far in 2024, it is extremely tough to even confirm who will be campaigned in Lead or Supporting Aress.

One thing that is looking likely however, is that we may seeing a first time winner take to the stage to accept this award next year, as every potential nominee I have predicted below is yet to win an Academy Award. In fact, only Maria Bakalova, Toni Collette, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Lesley Manville and Hong Chau have ever been nominated, and only once each previously.

If I had to pick a frontrunner at this stage, it would have to be Joan Chen for her upcoming role in Sean Wang‘s “Didi”, but keep an eye out for Bakalova for her portrayal of Ivana Trump in “The Apprentice”.
