What to Watch in June

After a month consisting of major blockbuster sequels, including the latest instalments in the ‘Mad Max’, ‘Planet of the Apes’ and ‘The Strangers’ franchises, June is is shaping up to be a big month for Academy favourites.

Previous director favourites, Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things) and Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves) have new films out next month, with their Cannes submissions, ‘Kinds of Kindness’ and ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1’ respectively. June will also mark the release of ‘The Watchers’, the debut feature from Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night Shyamalan.

Other big releases include Jeff Nichols’ ‘The Bikeriders’ and sequels to hit movies, ‘Inside Out 2’ , ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ and ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’.

Here is a full breakdown as to what is coming to UK cinemas and streaming throughout the month of June.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die (15)

The Watchers (15)

Synopsis: A 28-year-old artist gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. Finding shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are stalked by mysterious creatures every night.

Hit Man (15)

Synopsis: Professional killer Gary Johnson (Glen Powell) breaks protocol to help a desperate woman trying to flee an abusive husband and finds himself falling for her.

Sasquatch Sunset (15)

The Exorcism (15)

  1. A great list of movies to look forward to in June. All of these titles definitely sound promising to me but the film I’m most looking forward to seeing is “Inside Out 2”. I was such a massive fan of the first animated film, that set a high standard for the genre. It was one of those rare animated films which appealed toward both kids and adults alike. It made me reflect on how my own emotions impacted decisions in life. Pixar has had an uneven track record with sequels, but this could be an exception to the rule. Without a doubt, I am truly excited for it.
