Despite the recent Cannes Film Festival, the acting categories remain fairly unpredictable with so many features and performances yet to be seen. The correlation between Cannes and the Academy regarding the acting categories is not as strong but if there were to be any crossover, however, there was two big performances to come out the festival. the first being Karla Sofia Gascon, who recieved the Best Actress award as part of an ensemble of female actors in “Emilia Perez”. The second, and more Academy friendly performance is that of Mikey Madison in Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or winning “Anora”, which is a likelier candidate in Best Picture.
Still to come are potential winning performances by the likes of: Angelina Jolie, Saoirse Ronan, Lady Gaga, Jessica Lange and Amy Adams, all of whom have been nominated in the past with Jolie and Lange already having won previously.

Great predictions for lead actress. All of these actresses sound promising to me, but the one that stands out the most is Amy Adams. Adams is an amazing actress that has been delivering exceptional performances in movies for well over a decade. Whether it’s science-fiction dramas, period pieces or children’s films, Adams has proven that she can make movies in any genre. However, she has never achieved appreciations for her work. She has been nominated 6 times so far, but never won an Oscar. I think she is well overdue and has a great chance of winning. Of course, it’s too early at this point to tell and I haven’t even seen any of the films that you listed here. However, Adams has a strong ‘overdue’ narrative. I believe that she should have won years ago for her extraordinary performance in “Arrival”.
Here’s why I loved Amy Adam’s performance in “Arrival”:
