Adapted Screenplay: June 2024

Much like Original, Adapted can be difficult to predict which films are going to be based in either of the two screenwriting categories. One obvious question mark is “Sing Sing” which could be a huge contender come the Academy Awards in 2025. The film is not based on any notable pre-existing material but is based on a true story that is well documented, with real convicts essentially re-enacting their own story.

The rest of my predicted top five remain unchained from my predictions back in June with no real reason to move any features up or down the list. Outside of “Dune: Part Two” and “Sing Sing”, none of my predicted contenders have yet been screened to critics. In fact only four films out of the list of fifteen have so far seen the light of day so until we get to the back end of the year we will not now how the majority of these adapted screenplay contenders will be recieved.
