Only a matter of days on from the Golden Globe nominations on Monday, the nominations have been announced for the next major Academy Award precursor – the Critics’ Choice Awards. With more categories, as well as unified above the line categories (not split into drama and comedy), the Critics’ Choice give a clearer indication than the Globes as to what films are in serious contention.
Having recieved the most nominations on Monday with ten, “Emilia Perez” once again proves to be strong with another ten nominations here. However it was outdone by two films, both “Wicked” and “Conclave” continued a strong start to award season with eleven nominations each. Other films that performed well include “Dune: Part Two”, “The Brutalist”, “Anora” and “The Substance”.
The 30th Critics’ Choice Awards will take place on 12th January.
