Supporting Actor Predictions: December 2024

Similar to the lead acting categories, the supporting actor race is looking somewhat straightforward so far without there being a clear frontrunner at this stage. While the top five is by no means a sure thing, there are only realistically seven actors battling it out for the five spots.

Without any major precursor wins at the moment, it is harder to call but it is hard to look past Kieran Culkin and Guy Pearce as the locks for the category, having missed absolutely nowhere. Edward Norton, Yura Borisov and Denzel Washington have also looked strong, but the latter’s chances may crumble as his is not in a major Best Picture player. This could see early frontrunner Clarence Maclin secure a place, despite being surprisingly snubbed at the Golden Globes for Jeremy Strong, who could potentially score an upset if “The Apprentice” is given some love on nomination morning.
