Similar to Original Screenplay, Adapted will more than likely comprise of films that find themselves also securing a Best Picture nomination. This means I expect the likes of “One Battle After Another”, “Hamnet” and “Frankenstein” to get in, especially since the Academy tend to favourite writer-directors in the Screenplay categories. I also expect Will Tracy to get in for “Bugonia” which I also predict to get into the Best Picture line-up, which leaves one sport up for grabs.
The final slot is looking likely to between three films, with me at this moment in time predicting Clint Bentley‘s “Train Dreams”. Not only do I have the film getting into Best Picture following its PGA nomination, but Bentley and co-writer Greg Kwedar also got in last year for their “Sing Sing” screenplay. Possibly taking its place are South Korean satire “No Other Choice”, which has dropped off recently during award season, and “Wake Up Dead Man”, which will be looking to repeat the nominations earned by the previous two “Knives Out” movies, however it is yet to land a notable nomination anywhere.
