Awards Season is well and truly underway and the nominees for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards are to be announced on Monday 11th December. The Golden Globes are one of the major precursors when determining which films will be big players at the upcoming Academy Awards. Other precursors to come in the next few months include: The BAFTA, SAG, Critic’s Choice, DGA and PGA awards.
The Golden Globes are ran by the Hollywood Foreign Press and they split the film categories into two: Drama and Musical/Comedy. This is also the case for the lead actor categories which enables more acting hopefuls to get nominated. Now with the increased number of nominees from five to six, we will hopefully see an increase in diversity amongst the acting nominees this year.
A major change from the HFPA this year is the increase from five to six nominees per category.
Below is my current and possibly final predictions for Golden Globe nominees in Lead Actress – Drama:

- Carey Mulligan (Maestro)
- Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon)
- Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall)
- Greta Lee (Past Lives)

Possible Contenders
- Helen Mirren (Golda)
- Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (Origin)
- Julia Roberts (Leave the World Behind)
