After an exceptional year for cinema in 2023, where we have seen the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon sweep the industry at the box office, here is a breakdown of my most anticipated movies of 2024. Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes this year, a number of these movies were originally scheduled for a 2023 release but after pushbacks, now make up the 2024 movie slate. This in turn has had a knock on effect, with major blockbuster films including Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two now not scheduled until 2025.
My most anticipated movie releases of 2024:

I hadn’t even heard about the Alien movie yet!
I really want to look forward to Joker too, but I’m just detecting some cringe elements to it. The first one, for as good as it was, really could’ve been about anybody. We didn’t really have to attach it to the Joker IP

I agree i think Joker was good but not great. I am curious about the new one being a musical but coupd very easily be poor

Good list of movies to anticipate! I’m personally looking most forwards to seeing “Dune Part 2”. I absolutely love what Denis Villeneuve did with the first film and am curious to see how a sequel would turn out. Here’s my review of the 2021 sci-fi epic:
