  1. Excellent list of directors Dan! I can’t say that I disagree with any of your choices which are all great filmmakers. However, the standout for me is easily Martin Scorsese. Despite reaching a retirement age, Scorsese has proven he hasn’t lost his ability to craft engaging entertainment. For evidence, one need look no further than “Killers of the Flower Moon”. For such an old filmmaker, he hasn’t lost his passion for the art-form. That’s not something that can be said for every director. Here’s why I loved KOFM: https://huilahimovie.reviews/2023/11/01/killers-of-the-flower-moon-2023-movie-review/

    1. I know it is a shame as it is a male dominated industry historically but in recent times especially there have been several female directors coming through. Rose Glass, Greta Gerwig plus vets like Kathryn Bigelow, Jane Campion and Claire Denis. Given their limited filmography it is hard to include any but in a couple years this could very easily change

  2. Master all…I’d like to add one who is a bit polarizing, but the body of work by Brian DePalma is incredible…let me offer Carrie, Dressed To Kill, Phantom Of The Paradise, Mission: Impossible, Scarface, The Untouchables to start the debate! And yes, I left off Bonfire Of The Vanities because let’s no be cruel!
