Lead Actress Predictions: March 2024

Much like in the Lead Actor category, Lead Actress is shaping up to consist of a mixture of veteran actors and young stars. The vets that have previously won Academy Awards for acting include Angelina Jolie and Jessica Lange, the latter of which made my predictions for 2023 before her film “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” was pushed back.

Meanwhile Lady Gaga, Saoirse Ronan and Zendaya will be looking for their first Oscar wins, with the latter two likely to campaign in two separate movies with Ronan starring in “Blitz” and “The Outrun”, and Zendaya playing the female lead in two other delayed movies “Dune: Part Two” and “Challengers”.

I cannot see however at this stage a nomination for Emma Stone as she once again teams up with Yorgos Lanthimos for “Kinds of Kindness”. Despite the Greek auteur leading her to a recent Best Actress win, with a June release date and anthological premise, there seems to be too many hurdles for Stone to get past to secure a third Lead Actress win.

3. Uzo Aduba “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat”
4. Regina King “Shirley”
5. Nathalie Emmanuel “Megalopolis”
