What to Watch in May

After an eventful and diverse month in April, with A24’s largest film to date ‘Civil War’ playing in cinemas alongside the late March blockbusters, May is a fairly limited month for theatrical releases.

The month starts off strong with one of its larger releases, the Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt led action comedy ‘The Fall Guy’. Other major releases in May include the next instalments in the ‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘The Strangers’ and ‘Mad Max’ franchises.

These larger releases are separated by a handful of family friendly affairs and horror flicks, with John Krasinski‘s ‘IF’ and Chris Pratt lending his voice in the latest ‘Garfield’ adaptation being the major standouts. Also keep an eye out for Rose Glass‘ sophomore feature, the excellent crime thriller ‘Love Lies Bleeding’, which I had the privilege of catching early back in March.

Here is a full breakdown as to what is coming to UK cinemas and streaming throughout the month of May.

  1. Great list of movies to look forward to in May. These are all promising films which should be worth watching. However, the movie that I’m most looking forward to seeing is “The Fall Guy”. I’ve often been a massive fan of Ryan Gosling who has proven to be one of the greatest actors working today. He’s appeared in a wide range of films including serious dramas, lighthearted comedies and mesmerizing musicals. And he made a doll made out of plastic interesting. Is there anything that he can’t do?

I love all his films but “La La Land” is a personal favourite. Gosling showcased talents for singing, dancing and acting in an unforgettable performance. One of the greatest movies ever made. Here’s why I loved it:
