No we are in the second half of the year, it is time for me to refresh my most anticipated movie list for the remainder of 2024. From my original list posted at the beginning of the year, 6 of my most anticipated 2024 movies have been released: “Dune: Part Two”, “Challengers”, “Civil War”, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, “A Quiet Place: Day One” and “The Bikeriders”. For the most part, these films have not disappointed, with all but the latter appearing in my mid-year Top 10 films of 2024.

New entries onto the list include Oscar hopefuls: “Blitz”, “Conclave”, “Anora”, “Maria” and “Queer”.

Great list of movies to look forward to in 2024. I definitely look forward to seeing all these movies which all seem to be promising. However, the film that stands out the most to me is “Joker: Folie a Deux”. I was such a huge fan of the first film which changed the comic-book movie genre. Joaquin Phoenix was extraordinary, offering a fresh interpretation of the famous villain. Todd Phillips did an exceptional job of reimagining the famous villain for the modern world by tackling timely issues of mental health, social status and trauma. It was one of my favorite movies of 2019. Therefore, this upcoming sequel definitely has a lot to live up to. I’m curious to see how it turns out.
Here’s a list of my favorite movies from 2019 (I discuss “Joker” at number 4 on the list):
