78th Cannes Film Festival Line-up

In what is shaping up to be another staked year, the 78th Cannes Film Festival is the first major event of the 2024 award season. Recent years have seen an increasing correlation between Cannes and the Academy Awards, with four of the last five Palme d’Or winners (“Parasite”, “Triangle of Sadness”, “Anatomy of a Fall” and “Anora”) all going on to receive Best Picture nominations, with “Parasite” and “Anora” both winning the coveted Oscar in 2020 and 2025 respectively. 1. I was lucky enough to attend the film festival 12 times in my career – each one a highlight…seeing the world’s best and sometimes most polarizing cinema in one place is exhilarating – I was part of the mini-riot surrounding the screening of “Kids” for example…I did the first ever US TV interview with Lars von Trier for “Dancer In The Dark” and danced with Nicole Kidman at the world premiere of “Moulin Rouge”…so much fun and another great year awaits!
